GlenAllachie 2006 14 Year Cask 4768

Updated: May 16, 2022

PX Puncheon - "Deployment 1" SBWAS Exclusive - 60.2%

This one is super-special and very personal - this was an exclusive cask-pick that I did for my Sherry Bomb Whisky Appreciation Society Facebook group. Billy Walker presented me with a number of special casks that he thought would tickle my fancy. Whilst all of the casks presented were fabulous, one really stood out for me. This one. It was bottled back in April 2021 for the group and was snapped up globally within a matter of weeks. So unless you can find one on auction, you'll be hard-pressed to find it in the wild.

Appearance: Dark maple syrup. Thick & slow waxen legs.

Nose – Thick & heady sweetness mingles with maple syrup, an old leather chair, dark fruit, and oakiness.

Palate – A lovely oily blossoming of that thick sweetness that was on the nose now develops into a deeper muscovado sugar. Lots of sherry-viscosity coats the mouth that’s accompanied by plump raisins and dark chocolate.

Finish – Long, with waves of deep, dark-sugared sweetness, dark morello cherries, ripe plums, and the slightest far-off whiff of tobacco.

Conclusion – A SherryBombers delight. But then it would be, wouldn't it!
