GlenAllachie 2006 15 year Cask 4786

Updated: May 16

Oloroso Puncheon - "Deployment 2" SBWAS Exclusive - 59.1%

Just like "Deployment 1", this 2nd Deployment release for my Sherry Bomb Whisky Appreciation Society Facebook group was a special cask pick with GlenAllachie. Again, Billy Walker selected a number of casks for me to choose from, and as a follow-up to the first release, this was a US-exclusive for our American Cousins. Although it was bottled in April 2021 for the group, but wasn't officially available to purchase until August as it had a very long boat journey across the Atlantic.

This is also a year older than Deployment 1, coming in at 15 years old.

Appearance: Dark Polished maple wood. Lazy & thin oily legs. Nose: Stewed fruit, hot caramel sauce, milk chocolate, and Flambéed banana dance around the glass. A hint of pear drop (acetone) appears alongside some cherry cola. Held in the glass for a little longer, the sherry grows and a far-off whiff of strawberry ice cream appears. Palate: Big sherried sweetness with a drying chili-tingle are there from the off. Warmth carries the sherry through perfectly and delivers notes of fruit’n’nut chocolate and juicy raisins. A little oakiness arrives on the tongue. Finish: Long and warming. Sweetness coats the mouth with a hint of almond. Conclusion: Big and powerful that forces you to go back for a second performance.

Currently exclusively available at whiskyshopusa it is still available and retails for approx. $190 USD
